A corpse from millions of years ago, turned to stone. It's still covered with a lot of stone, so we're not sure what it is just yet. Try cleaning it off in a Fossil Prep Station.

The Fossil is an unsplicable consumable item which was added during the Growassic Park update. It is obtainable from smashing a Fossil Rock, or other rock-like objects that fossils can spawn in, such as Deep Rock, Boulder, Mars Rock and Asteroid.

Obtaining[]

To extract a fossil from a rock, one will need a Rock Hammer and a Rock Chisel. Equip the Rock Hammer, and tap the rock slowly until the message, "I unearthed a fossil!" appears. This hit number will vary. Tap the extracted fossil with the Rock Chisel until it breaks. A fossil will drop.

Trivia[]

  • The fossil can be used in a Fossil Prep Station to extract items out of the fossil.
  • If a Fossil Brush is used on a Fossil which has never been picked up by a player, the Fossil will turn into a Polished Fossil.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Rocks do not turn into Fossil Rocks based on the number of players in a world. The generation rate of Fossil Rocks is flat; whether there is one or 65 players in a world, the generation rate of Fossil Rocks is the same. This has been confirmed by @Hamumu himself, who said in a reply to a thread on the Growtopia Forums:
    • Doesn't matter how popular your world is, doesn't matter how many rocks you have in it (as long as you have at least 1...), doesn't matter how old or new it is, doesn't matter the rating, doesn't matter what you have built in it, doesn't even matter how you have it locked (or IF you have it locked). EVERY WORLD is equally likely, provided it's currently loaded.[1]
