See main article: Golden Booty Chest#Drops
Breaking a Heartstone will drop an exlusive random Valentine's Week item.
When first introduced during Valentine's Week 2013, Heartstones would spawn every Valentine's Week in worlds with 'high-rarity items', replacing any Rocks placed or naturally spawned in the world. However, players began to exploit this mechanism and would make worlds filled with Rocks and high-rarity farmables.
As of Valentine's Week 2016, Heartstones are no longer generated automatically and were instead replaced with Golden Booty Chests that would naturally spawn in worlds. Heartstones could still be created by consuming a Love Potion #8 on a Rock. Players continued to abuse the new Golden Booty Chests, filling worlds with high rarity items.
In 2017, Golden Booty Chests no longer spawned.[1][2] Instead, Golden Booty Chests were given out to players through the Share the Love special event which could be randomly spawned during Valentine's Week if a world is populated with players. The Ruby Lock was also introduced which would give a 1% chance of spawning a Heartstone in a world.
