When the player places one in their world, they can wrench it and select an item from their inventory to store inside. Upon placing an item inside, the MAGPLANT will automatically collect identical items that drop from a tree or from a player breaking a block in that world. It does not pick up items dropped by players or events.
Players can take the MAGPLANT 5000 Remote from the MAGPLANT 5000 which can be used to place the item in the MAGPLANT 5000. The player must select which one to take it out of by punching it and can plant or place the item. A single MAGPLANT can hold a maximum of 5,000 items, making it a more efficient per-block storage than simply dropping stacks of items (as each stack contains up to 200 items and a single spot can hold 20 dropped stacks, you can only drop up to 4000 items in the same spot).
Note that perma-items such as Locks, ATMs, and other MAGPLANTS, are placed directly into one’s inventory when broken and therefore will not be collected by a MAGPLANT when broken.
Old Store Info
- The reason why it has the number 5000 is that it can only store 5000 of the chosen item.
- Players often create a so-called "BFG" (which stands for "break for gems") using this item, where players give other players access to the MAGPLANT 5000 so that they can take and break blocks in the world while the seeds are collected in another MAGPLANT 5000, leaving the player with gems.
- If a specific item is dropped in a world and a MAGPLANT 5000 is placed afterward then it won't pick up those items. The MAGPLANT 5000 will only collect items dropped after it is placed.
